The Project Human Development in Focus is a research project that will generate two documentaries about:
The proposal of one documentary is to give voice and visibility to clients from microcredit institutions, credit agents and other interviewed citizens so that they may express their reflections over human development; and we then wish their ideas and conclusions influence both their own society and other diverse contexts. We intend to think over the human development and how the philosophy, methodology and strategy of microcredit institutions relate in order to pluck up efforts to a change in direction of a new developmental paradigm. We will inquire over what social, economical, political and spiritual values contribute to this change. How could these elements be brought into actions and strategies which, put together, would promote human development and a change in paradigm? Our team is visiting microfinance institutions in many countries. To follow our steps click here. November 2009By November, 2009, 13 microfinance institutions and 4 second floor institutions in 8 countries were already filmed by the Human Development in Focus team: The next institutions to be filmed will be in India and in Bangladesh. Microcredit for women in NepalDuring the last week of October, our team was in Nepal, filming the work developed by CSD - Center for Self-Help Development - in this country. One of the most interesting aspects addressed either by the directors as by the customers was how microcredit 100% orientated for women can contribute for their empowerment, increasing their autonomy and respect in a culture in which they are normally submitted to the husband. On the roadSince April 2009 our team has been visiting microfinance institutions in many countries, interviewing CEOs, directors, managers, loan officers, customers and specialist. We have already visited institutions in Brazil, Morocco, Kyrgyzstan, England, Russia, Ukraine, China, Vietnam and Indonesia.
